Supply chain management Implementation Issues and challenges at Oil and Gas Development Company limited

Abstract

Supply chain management is the key research area now a days. Supply chain management is the process of integration of different departments from raw material till finished good and the flow of information both ways. Implementing supply chain is a hectic process which if not performed correctly can lead to huge losses for the organization. This paper provides an overview of while implementing supply chain management what are the major issues which are faced by the organization. This paper will highlight the issues of implementing supply chain in OGDCL. The most important issue faced by OGDCL was lack of information sharing. The reason behind it was that as OGDCL is a public sector organization so it has to follow PEPRA regulation regarding the sharing of information with its client and suppliers. Apart from this issue many other issued were also found while implementing SCM in OGDCL which were lack of trust, lack of top management commitment. Although these issues are faced by many organization while implementing SCM but after completion of SCM implementation organization performance increases. Enhancement in performance is also discussed in this paper. Semi structure interview were conducted with top management of OGDCL who were involved in implementation process of SCM. This paper will be helpful for students as well as managers to know the majors issues of SCM implementation process and the benefits or performance gain through SCM.
