Onion Routing (OR) is a method that makes the communication private and secure via the internet. This project will focus on creating a system where people can send anonymity of data via a set of special computers known as onion routers. By enveloping messages in more than one layers of encryption, OR does not allow any one server to know full path to the destination server. Some of the major characteristics that will be incorporated in the system include the directory authority to locate available routers, hybrid encryption, secure connections via key exchange, and multi-hop encryption to secure messages at every step. OR improves the privacy of users compared to VPNs that can reveal their identities at the end server, hiding traffic on each stage. As the use of mass monitoring, traffic analysis, and cyber-dangers grow, it is necessary to ensure the issue of online anonymity has become a critical issue to individuals, activists, journalists, and cybersecurity professionals. The Onion Privacy Guard (OPG) project tackles the challenges through an added layer of security infrastructure that incorporates onion routing approach in order to secure traffic routing, DNS leak prevention with DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPS, firewall-based enforcement of anonymity, application sandboxing, and firejail user profile isolation. The existing project will involve the development of a functional OR system, the encryption techniques analysis, and so on evaluating its success in avoiding surveillance and tracking. The proposed system will cater to as an effective basis of safe and unidentified internet communications |
