<description>IMPACT OF OUTSOURCING ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PROJECTS IN CONSTRUCTION SECTOR OF KARACHI
Khan, Shoaib Jalil Reg # 43040
Purpose:&#13;
This research study has been carried out to find out the impact of outsourcing including &#13;
with construction works like Electrical, HVAC (heating ventilating &amp; air-conditioning), &#13;
Civil and Mechanical transportation on successful completion of projects in construction &#13;
sector of Karachi.&#13;
Methodology:&#13;
The research is explanatory in nature based on deductive approach. The data were &#13;
collected with the help of a research instrument i.e. a questionnaire from a sample of 160 &#13;
managers of the construction industry. Quantitative data were collected on a Likert scale &#13;
ranging from 1 to 5. Data were analysed through statistical tools correlation and &#13;
regression analysis by using SPSS, version 23.&#13;
Findings:&#13;
The results have revealed that there is a significant relationship between outsourced &#13;
services with project success in construction sector of Karachi. As per findings of this &#13;
study, the impact of outsourcing of Civil and HVAC (heating ventilating &amp; air- &#13;
conditioning) works is not significant on project success. However, other outsourced &#13;
works like Electrical and mechanical/ transportation are having significant positive &#13;
impact on project success.&#13;
Implications:&#13;
The findings of this research are likely to help the management of construction &#13;
organisations of Karachi about effectiveness of outsourced facilities and also about its &#13;
weaknesses. Other organizations and academia may also benefit from the study.

<title>THE PERCEIVED IMPACT OF ECONOMIC FACTORS ON PROJECT FAILURE IN PAKISTAN</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/8553</link>
<description>THE PERCEIVED IMPACT OF ECONOMIC FACTORS ON PROJECT FAILURE IN PAKISTAN
Rani, Shama Reg # 43030
Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the perceived impact of economic factors on &#13;
project failure in Pakistan. These factors include financial resources, Foreign exchange rate, &#13;
foreign investment, and joint. In this study, quantitative techniques were used to analyze the &#13;
collected responses i.e. primary data using a specially designed questionnaire to meet the &#13;
requirements of the current study. This study highlights the perceived economic factors that &#13;
may impact project failure in Pakistan. A comprehensive analysis of the economic factors, &#13;
influencing the project failure would help to gets a clear understanding of economic factors &#13;
having an impact on the project. A comprehensive analysis and study of such economic &#13;
factors will help to identify the economic factors that could cause to lead any project towards &#13;
failure. Without a clear understanding of such factors, various processes involved in project &#13;
would become more complex and challenging for stakeholders particularly for project &#13;
managers and sponsors. This situation can increase the risk of project failure.&#13;
Research Methodology: Target population of this study was project managers working in &#13;
Pakistan. Population size was unknown because no authentic resource provided the number &#13;
of project managers working in Pakistan. In this study, Non-probability convenience &#13;
sampling technique was used. A sample of 400 was used. Out of 400 respondents, 159 &#13;
completed and useful responses were received reaching a response rate of 40%.&#13;
Findings of the Research: The result of the study indicates a significant positive &#13;
relationship between financial resources and joint venture (independent variables) with &#13;
project failure (dependent variable). This study also found that foreign investment had no &#13;
significant impact on project failure.&#13;
Practical Implications: The reasons for project failure usually vary depending on nature of &#13;
a project. The knowledge of economic factors that significantly impact project failure will &#13;
help project managers and sponsors to set a strategy for a successful completion of their &#13;
projects. Professionals can use these findings to evaluate the result of these economic factors &#13;
in their project and accordingly they can set their strategies to decrease the probability of&#13;
project failure.

<title>IMPACT OF PERSONALITY TRAITS OF PROJECT MANAGER ON PROJECT SUCCESS THROUGH TIME LINE</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/8551</link>
<description>IMPACT OF PERSONALITY TRAITS OF PROJECT MANAGER ON PROJECT SUCCESS THROUGH TIME LINE
Ahmed, Mubashir Masood Reg # 41861
The purpose of this explanatory, deductive and quantitative research is to determine whether there &#13;
exist an association between the personality traits of the project manager and the project &#13;
in term of timely completion of the projects. The data was collected from the 87 Project &#13;
Management Institute (PMI) Certified Project Manager. There were almost 195 PMI certified &#13;
project manager in PMI Karachi Chapter. The data was collected from the respondent with the &#13;
help of the questionnaire. The questionnaire can take either soft or hard form. The questionnaire &#13;
consists of three section. The Section A represents the demographic view of the respondent, the &#13;
Section B helps to determine the personality traits of the respondent and section C helps to &#13;
determine the project success. The Section B personality trait questionnaire is being adopted with &#13;
permission from (John, Donahue and Kentle, 1991), Copy right by Oliver P. John and reprinted &#13;
by permission, for the research. The questionnaire contains the trophological information of the &#13;
respondents and information related to the independent variables under examination, i.e. Openness &#13;
to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. The Likert scale &#13;
ranging from 1 to 5 have been used. The Section C of the questionnaire helps evaluating the timely &#13;
completion of the Project by the respondent. The respondent is requested to provide the &#13;
information related to most recent last three project undertaken by him. The questionnaire &#13;
compromises of the nominal data and the information related to dependent variable i.e. Project &#13;
Success in terms of timely completion, which may either take Yes or No form only. The &#13;
relationship of each hypothesis has been tested by using the Pearson’s Chi-Square test of &#13;
association. The Chi Square Test of association is used to identify if there exists any relationship &#13;
between two variables. The Hypothesis is sacked when the Chi square likelihood is less than or &#13;
equal to 0.05. Finding of the study has indicated that there exists a significant relationship bet &#13;
three independent variables i.e. Extraversion, Neuroticism and Openness to experience, with the &#13;
dependent variable i.e. Project success in term of timely completion of project. Whereas, on the &#13;
other end, no significant relationship was found between two independent variables i.e. &#13;
Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, with the dependent variable i.e. Project success in term of &#13;
timely completion of project. The research would help to realize the role of personality traits of &#13;
project managers have in defining the success or failures of projects.

<title>CAUSES OF TURNOVER INTENTION OF EMPLOYEES WORKING ON PROJECTS AT PN DOCKYARD</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/294</link>
<description>CAUSES OF TURNOVER INTENTION OF EMPLOYEES WORKING ON PROJECTS AT PN DOCKYARD
Muhammad, Mursaleen, Reg # 9015
The reason to conduct this research was to examine turnover intention of employees working in PN Dockyard based on 4 determinants. These determinants included career growth opportunities, managerial support, salary &amp; rewards and work-life balance. Deductive approach was adopted and a well-structured questionnaire was prepared for obtaining views of employees from PN Dockyard. Research was purely based on primary quantitative data. The collection of data was made as per Likert scale of 1 to 5. For better representation of different projects, a total of 130 respondents were chosen who were working under various General Managers at PN Dockyard. The questionnaire was tested through the test of reliability „Cronbach Alpha‟ to test internal consistency of the items. Findings of the study have reflected that Turnover Intention of employees working on projects in PN Dockyard depends on 3 determinants. i.e.,„ Career Growth Opportunities‟, „Managerial Support‟ and „Salary &amp; Rewards‟. Further, one variable i.e., „Work Life Balance‟ is found to be having no significant bearing on turnover intention of civilian staff. The outcome of the research is likely to help management of the Dockyard for further improving various measures to minimize the chances of turnover intentions of employees. Findings of the research shall also be useful for the industry for retention of employees for longer period in the organizations, especially projected and matrix organizations, where various projects are undertaken on regular basis and retention of specialized work force is essential for the success of the projects. By employing various techniques and following recommendations of this research, it is believed that the organizations can motivate their employees and optimize loyalty among them.
